Many Americans ask the same questions, except their concern is about Mexican immigration and its effects on the US. Of course, their concerns are more cultural than economic. Regardless, I am pro-US/Mexican integration. I would say that most Mexicans are also pro-integration, especially since 15 million or so have left Mexico for the US in the last couple of decades. But Mexico cannot expect the US to open its doors if Mexico doesn't do the same.

I hope things resolve themselves, XP.

Thanks for translating that Jalife-Rahme article. I tried to wrap my mind around it and couldn't produce an adequate summary.

Excellent post, XP. I wish I'd known about the Calva quote earlier.

I'll have to re-read your historical analysis again, but it looks pretty damn good to me.

Sorry to hear about your family troubles. Do what you need to do, and post when -- and if -- you can.

Wow, that quote by Calva is great.

This is a very good, very well written post, XP. I've been following this whole North American Union thing for the past year, including the Corsi articles and the various reactions from the CT people. It's clear to me that the corporate interests are already dividing the spoils, Pemex will be privatized during the next sexenio, as will CFE (Electricity) to the detriment of the Mexican people. Just like a few years ago, the mineral wealth was sold off at a fraction of its value to multinationals. The recent union busting at Mexican mines is just the beginning.
