Frustration
Coping Luisa’s and BFP’s lead, I ended up finding a powerful poem I think Luisa might appreciate and chuckle given a recent conversation we had just had a few days ago.

Justicia ⇒ “Because we have suffered, and we are not afraid to suffer in order to survive, we are ready to give up everything - even our lives - in our struggle for justice.” — César Chávez
Contact meLibertad ⇒ “Ignorance and obscurantism have never produced anything other than flocks of slaves for tyranny.” — (Emiliano Zapata's letter to Pancho Villa)

ooh, I wanna hear about the conversation you and luisa were having!! It had to be a good one if it led to this!
The thing I thought when watching this–why is it always, I’m looking for something to die for? Why isn’t it ever I’m looking for something to *live* for? We’re all already dieing–we need a reason to live.
That was great!
And they wonder why us generation X kids seem so angry. My father, who went to Cuba to cut sugar cane for the revolution in the seventies and met Castro, now doesn’t want me to go to New Orleans (he was also pro-war in Iraq for the first year). He thinks I’m going to work for the UN one day. Hah! He would jump up and down if I decided to go to law school or med school. My mom wants to volunteer for Obama’s campaign (and she has e-mailed him twice about it). They worry whenever I move into another low income community. It seems that when folks get older, they are more into reform than revolution.
bfp,
XP and I talk on the phone all the time so I don’t remember this particular conversation. :p. kidding.
oh yeah, it was very mind blowing. :p
That was pretty deep, but you are correct, why do we have to die for something. I think I am going to try to change that part of my language.
Speak your mind
