The Fight Worth Fighting For

When they say that the immigration debate is a heated one, that is not an exaggeration, it is. To be honest, I really don’t know how I really feel, there are so many raw emotion running inside of me, I really don’t know who to be angry at. But I have come to this conclusion, nastiness thrives first in flesh and blood; and the comments that were left here is a manifestation of their ugliness. I was told of this story from through my father. He had emailed my that article the day before in the morning, and truthfully, I did not see it until late at night, I was working on a post that basically deals with a more personal matter regarding a certain undesirable group, a few people know what I am talking about. Thank you for your advice, it really means a lot, more than any them really know. There really are no words to express my gratitude.

It was later in the evening, my father asked if I saw his email and when I told no, he was shocked. Since he didn’t know what I blogging about, it was hard for to understand why I didn’t. I was in shock when I saw on what took place on the video. So I dropped what I did, to write about the border killing. After doing some quick research, nobody was talking about it. I didn’t do it because I could get the jump. I did it because a human life was taken away in the blink of an eye right before me. This was not an X-box game where this person will another life and simply walk away when the video is over. NO, his life is gone. A mother has lost her son, and an uncle has lost his nephew. After yesterday, I am beginning to wonder what the world has come to.

In the mist of all the bickering and finger pointing, lives are being lost on the border mother has lost her son, a young man is rendered fatherless, a sister or a brother becomes an only child, and the world has lost a child who could have made a difference.

Regardless on who is to blame, it happened. For a country who professes in protecting the “sanctity of life,” but is willing to rationalize about snuff out another is pure hypocrisy. All it does is continue the never ending cycle of violence continues. People sleep snug in their bed, xenophobic groups are dancing for joy because it just mean one less “spic” to worry about, while another life will be lost, children jailed in one of America’s concentration camps, and families are separated. Nothing gets done and the status quo of suffering and violence is preserved.

It is time to stop everything that is causing the rage to build and fester! In nothing, people need to stop pointing fingers and reflect on what could justifiably be done now to stop this from occurring again!

This weekends video is dedicated to those who are committed para la causa! Because this fight is worth fighting for!

I feel your pain XP. I’ve watched the video over and over, perhaps 20 times and ultimately resorted to trying to view it frame by frame. I tried to accomplish that task by alternately clicking the Pause and Play button.

Since we can only see the few seconds that lead up to the shooting of Rivera we are left to wonder what possibly transpired between the victim the BP agent. The video is shocking and deeply disturbing because although Rivera can be clearly seen to be cocking his arm to throw what authorities allege was a rock, he can be seen to face in the direction of the vehicle and is not facing Border Patrol Agent Corbett when he is shot.

The video reminds me of the Rodney King incident when the LAPD tried to counter that King would not have been beaten had he not been reaching for the officers guns and complied with orders to stay down. In the end those officers where found not guilty and it makes me angry that the Corbett case may have a similar outcome.

For those interested in getting to the truth. There is a longer video of this incident available here:

it is even more disturbing as it shows what led up to the shooting and raises many more serious doubts.

Thanks Duke, I was looking for it. How did you find it? That one, really does show that he had no attempt to throw it at him.

Tony - I did the same thing and it was hard. Then it hit me, no matter what, his life is gone. And with the link that Duke provided, I wonder if the guy has any remorse or if he can even sleep at night. It still disturbs me. Have really turned that cold.

it’s going to be worse, too, before it gets better. if it does. i really hope it does. poor mexico. been at the end of a gun or sword for so long. crushed under the heel of economic tyranny, stretched on the racks of the conquistadors, still unappreciated and used for all they can get. what a land of beauty and beautiful people. venceremos, vatos.

    XP

I had the link from the original YouTube version of the longer video all ready to use in a post, but when I went to use it it was dead…they had scubbed the video from the site.

I remembered that it had the Nothingtoxic.com logo in the corner..luckily they’re hosting a copy at their site or the video and more importantly, the truth might have been lost.

Duke - now that is very interesting. I guess YouTube decided to let me keep mine up because it had been edited to insert all the Union-Tribune information. That would explain the delay I had from YouTube, that would be fine, I had it uploaded at Photobucket, for just in case purposes.

What interests me is the editing by the Union-Tribune. The whole hard pan to the left makes it seem the BP were hiding something. It look like it was moved by hand when it wasn’t because you could tell in the original one it was panning to left as if it was meant to, like an automatic scan. Now it raises a lot more questions.
