Run Cynthia Run

Just when the Democratic Party rid themselves of their black torn on their side. Think again. Bwahahahaha. She is back and will really be a torn on their side. Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has taken the necessary steps to run for President of the United States as a Green candidate against the Democratic and Republican nominees next year. On October 22, 2007, Ms. McKinney registered with the Federal Election Commission as a presidential candidate.

The former Democratic congresswoman from Georgia has her own website - Run Cynthia Run - in order to seek the necessary campaign contributions to get Ms. McKinney on fifty-one ballots and “reaching out to the voters of this nation who are ready for a Green alternative to the wars being waged both at home and abroad by the War Parties and their candidates.”

I have written about Cynthia McKinney when she filed articles of impeachment against President George W Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Other than Dennis Kucinich, McKinney was the only other person who was willing to step up to the place by electing to do her job as a public servant.

Cynthia McKinney is a highly revered and outspoken person with congressional voting record that is clearly reflected in national reputation for public service and for her deeply held progressive values of economic justice and equality for all Americans. However, the media has portrayed McKinney in a negative view, giving her a reputation for being thin-skinned.

Cynthia McKinney was the first to break the silence, accusing the Bush administration of having received advance warnings of a terrorist attack prior to Sept. 11. Yet, people think she is a 9-11 conspiracy nut for having this view. During her 16 years in Congress, Cynthia has served on several important committees and was very influential advocate for economic justice not only for the people here in the US, but also in Africa. During her final year in office, McKinney’s was a rare voice on the House floor, speaking out against the US invasion of Afghanistan, the Patriot Act, and globalization.

From a speech Cynthia McKinney made supporting the withdrawal from the World Trade Organization.

Mr. Speaker, developing countries were sold a bill of goods, but so were we. Corporations, with the help of the WTO, have forced workers throughout the world into a deadly game of chicken. The WTO should protect basic social services and prioritize human rights and the environment in an environment that is democratic and transparent. Instead, it hurts the poor, benefits the rich at the expense of us all, and it does it in secret and in back rooms.

Mr. Speaker, this is no way to build a new world order. We need to put our money where our professed values are: fair trade, democracy, respect for workers, sensible environmental standards, and allowing poor countries to grow.

Mr. Speaker, I have introduced the Corporate Code of Conduct Act because I do not think that freedom, equality, human dignity and human rights are for sale. Unfortunately, the folks at WTO do not agree. They have unleashed unbridled corporate excess on all of us. The current system is wrong and in need of a serious fix.

When it comes to the immigration issue, Cynthia McKinney understand the politics of divide and conquer and the importance in strengthening the a Black-Brown unity in to help fight for a fair and just American immigration policy, including ending ICE sweeps and intimidation, due process and consideration for families with children. Ms. McKinney understands that “free trade” agreements like NAFTA, WTO and CAFTA enable predatory multinational corporations to take over local, national and regional Latin American and Caribbean economies, creating an expanding labor pool of poverty and economic need their home economies can no longer meet. And that those “free trade” immigrants endure a dangerous and demeaning journey north, to mostly become a part of a hard working US illegal underclass that has become valuable both to the US economy and the vein of nativist jingoism so valuable to Republicans, and some Democrats.

This will alarm the Democratic Party, the same way Ralph Nader alarmed the Democratic Party in the 2000 Presidential election. However, given the fact that the Democratic Party betrayed the trust of their base in bringing about the American invasion of Iraq and in continuing the occupation. And especially for their political cowardice - lead by US Rep. Rahm Emanuel, Democratic chief strategist - on immigration.

As for this Democrat, all I have to say is ¡Adelante Con Cynthia McKinney!

Why don’t any of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus members learn from this woman? All of our gente in Congress have pretty much thrown their support to Hillary Clinton. I have to give it up once again to the black congressional leaders.

The DNC and GOP have both betrayed America. They’re making excuses out of ignorance, not leading based on facts. Time to open the doors to the impeachment investigation. If Pelosi and others want to claim to be leaders, but want to keep those doors closed, time to focus attention on the Speaker: Support the effort to remove Pelosi as Speaker, and make way for the impeachment investigation. ( Details ) What’s your reaction to this?

Of all the members of Hispanic Caucus, I like Ciro Rodriguez. It is too bad he hardly gets any press time. I think one of the reasons he doesn’t come out and speak out is because he owes a lot of Pelosi, since it was she who pushed the DCCC to financially back him in his race against Bonilla. As long as he remains in the shadows, he will always be doing her bidding.
