Losing Our Humanity: YouTubing A Woman’s Rape
Violence affects the lives of millions of women worldwide. It continues to be a global epidemic that kills, tortures, and maims – physically, psychologically, sexually and economically. It is one of the most pervasive of human rights violations, denying women and girls equality, security, dignity, self-worth, and their right to enjoy fundamental freedoms. Rape is a significant social and health problem here and around the world.
In London, a 25-year-old mother was drugged, repeatedly raped for hours in front of her screaming children. The horrible ordeal was later posted on YouTube for the world to see. The three-minute clip of her ordeal was later removed from YouTube after a local reporter complained about its graphic nature.
The woman told Sky News she was unable to move, but fully aware during the hours-long attack.
She replied: “Someone perverted, someone not right, someone sick.
“It’s just crazy to think that someone would get a kick out of watching that.
“The worst thing about it, you can clearly my baby crying. Why would someone not do something about it? I can’t understand.”
Calling the gang “animals”, the mother described how she had been unable to move but was fully aware during the alleged attack.
She said: “They just hurt me the whole way through. They had no respect.
“Afterwards one p***** on me, like I was nothing.
“I felt dirty, humiliated, ashamed. I did not want to tell anyone, did not want to do anything. I just wanted to forget.
“I thought, if I lose my control, I’m not going to be a good mum for my kids. I just had to pretend it did not happen.”
Rape is a violent crime and there is little that is sexually arousing about it. It is cretins have no respect for women, but fact that it the video clip generated 600 viewers and none of them reported to YouTube’s administrative staff is disturbing. Have we become so jaded and desensitized to violence? Are we no longer concern about the welfare of our fellow human being?

How utterly disturbing.
I’m wondering if absent the YouTube video these teenagers would have gotten off without any punishment whatsoever. The fact that some 600 viewers would view the video and not find it offensive or inappropriate baffles me.
I’m sure as the story develops questions will arise about what the teenagers where doing at this womans house? Did this woman drink Champagne with the teenagers? The story will get muddled and spun leaving out the fact that for rape victims the overwhelming humiliation and shame keep them from reporting the rape.
