Idol Fans to Simon Cowell: Not so fast

This is my last post on American Idol, promise. My boy David Archuleta did not win and I am sadden by it. He is not only Latino, but it is also a son of a Honduran immigrant, Lupe Marie Archuleta. His father, Jeff, is an American of Basque descent, and his mother, Lupe, is a naturalized Honduran American.

The “Idol” finale came down to two contestants, both named David. David Cook being the other finalist. Going into last night, may thought Archuleta was going crowned the new American Idol after Simon Cowell had said Archuleta won the “Battle of the Davids” during Tuesday’s finale. Not so fast Simon Cowell.

It seems 12 million of David Cook’s fans want to send a message to Simon Cowell and it looked like he heard it loud and clear. Last night, Cowell apologized to Cook for being harsh to him during Tuesday’s finale right before Ryan Seacrest announced Cook was the next “American Idol.” Cowell told Cook that his remarks were “verging on disrespectful” and for that he apologized. How timely! But nothing surprises me after what Paula did to Jason Castro, also a son of immigrant parents - both from Colombia. He is the first person in his family to be born in the US.

David Archuleta is you happen to stop by chance, congratulations to your future success. Besides who needs them anyway. I am glad you stood up for your father. Just keep in mind that the last successful Hispanic singer who let their parent play a central role in their musical career was Tejano singer Selena. So ignore those haters.
