Denver Day Two: Not So Strange Anymore
I was hoping to up date everything I did yesterday, but it is impossible because there is just too much to write on. It feels like information overload. So I have decided I will wait and write a big post when of everything I did, which I plan to include pictures. I will write on my plans for the day. However, my co-blogger, JS OBrien, from Scholars & Rogues video tapped the immigration session and the Minutemen protest, please check it out.
This morning, at 10:30 MT, I will be facilitating a discussion session with Kety Esquivel of CrossLeft.org at the Big Tent in the Alliance Center. The discussion session is titled, “Crashing La Pachanga: Opening Lines of Communication”. The topic will cover Latino issues and the need to open the line of communications.
For many years the “crabs in the bucket” mentality has closed the lines of communication. As a result, the Latino culture is still unknown to many. Latinos are neither monolithic nor are we seamless, more than ever, new strategies must be developed to open the lines of communication within our diverse community and with potential political allies.
Then later I am hoping to attend a session on how the Hispanic Vote is the key to long-term viability in the Southwestern Region for progressive candidates. The panel will include SEIU Executive Vice President Eliseo Medina, Western Majority Project, and Governor Bill Richardson
If you are interested in seeing what my comrades at Scholars and Rouges are doing during the DNC week, be sure to check them out. In fact, there is an interesting take on how to handle the border wall, it really isn’t what you think. Check it out.
