The Gospel of XP Returns: NCLR Confrence
Guess who? You miss me? I’m back!
Like a street preacher starting out with truth on my side and a voice to be heard, I have taken my word to the National Council of La Raza’s (NCLR) 2009 Annual Conference in Chicago, IL.
On Saturday I participated in a new media panel with esteemed experts Jill Garvey, Kety Esquivel, and Murray Mann. We covered a wide range of new media topics from the basic to the advanced. The intention of the panel was to help community-based organizations navigate through the complicated new media maze.
I presented on how community organization can utilize blogs and Twitter to reach out to their community. I the audience that new media should looked like a present day water cooler and unlike the water cooler in your office, it is an ongoing global conversation and to be more successful, the community at large need to be a part of that conversation.
I can only reiterate what my esteem colleague and friend Jill said, “It is especially important for non-profit and community leaders to accurately gauge where people gather online.”
