Olbermann Exposes Congressional Opponents of Universal Health Care
According to the US Census Bureau, Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the country – nearly one out of every four Texans (26%) is uninsured – over 5.5 million people. Among those, 60.4 percent of Latinos in Texas are uninsured. This would include me.
There is no doubt that this is a shocking. However, industry interests and partisan fighting are once again threatening the current opportunity for a public dialogue about what is best for our health-care system. Some in Washington will do anything to kill reform. Their only priority is scoring political points, not passing needed change. On Monday, Keith Olbermann on his MSNBC show exposed the congressional opponents who are set on killing health care reform. These are the elected officials who want to make sure that I continue to walk on egg shells hoping nothing we will happen to me from my home to my point of destination. The same elected officials who would prefer that my parents pay for my medication so their son does not fall into depression.
Here is what Keith had to say:

Oh of course, the opponents of your policy are all evil greedy bastards and those who favor your proposal are the saints who, instead of trying to score political points, are really just looking out for the needy. So many Mother Theresa’s we have in conress, why didn’t I see this?
Oh, and your not in this for selfish or greedy reasons either right? You’re different. After all, this policy won’t have a direct impact on you – you have great insurance yourself. Please.
For the record, as someone who is not in bed with the insurance companies, I strongly oppose Obama’s healthcare plans – and I say this as somebody who truly is disconnected from any of the special interests.
What is so selfish or greedy about wanting health insurance? What is so selfish or greedy about not wanting my family to eat my medical cost? You might not be in bed with the insurance companies, but your as guilty and heartless as they are. So the next time you meet somebody face to face, whether it is a family or friend who is in desperate need of medical care but can’t afford it, just it was YOU who caused their suffering because you sided profit over humanity.
Let me turn the question on you then: What is so selfish or greedy about taxpayers wanting to keep more of their paycheck? Why should taxpayers be forced to pay for your health insurance? What is so selfish or greedy about not wanting my family to eat your medical costs? What makes you more important than taxpayers?
I know many honest decent tax payers who have overcome much harder obstacles than you or I have – hard working immigrants to this country who are making a decent living, for example – who will have to pay higher taxes for your health insurance costs. Republicans represent them.
Also, you can’t use words like “selfish” and “greedy” when your talking about forced money transfers from one group to the other. Taxes are not charity, they are not voluntary, they are forced. And no politician is talking about spending his own money on other peoples health insurance, no, they are being “generous” with other peoples money – hardly something worth applauding.
To put it in terms you could understand, calling politicians “generous” and “compassionate” for spending other peoples money on health insurance is tantamount to calling George W. Bush “courageous” for fighting a war that he himself would never have to physically or financially fight. It’s just bad nomenclature.
Besides, the whole world doesn’t revolve around you. There are other people who would lose because of your gain. They matter just as much.
Universal health care always comes back to rationed health care. Try waiting for an MRI that you need to see if you have cancer for 12 weeks, or traveling 100 miles or more for a simple test that your hospital is not allowed to provide.
Ther United Kingdom’s survial rate for Breast Cancer is 25% here in the greedy United Sataes of America it is 46%. Their survial rate for prostrate Cancer is 19% ours is 57%. Their survial rate following a Heart Attach is 20% ours is 40%.
Keep in mind they are doing what our President and the Democrat Party have said they hop in 5 – 20 years we won’t do. They have allowed a private health care system to co-exist alongside of their National Health Care System. So the “Evil Rich”, that usually anyone who makes $25,000 more than you do, can buy better hospitals, and the best doctors, and the best treatment.
Their are seveal things we can do to bring the cost of Health Care in America down. Refuse treatment for illegals, two quit telling people if you have a child on American soil it is a citizen, three get the trial lawyers out of health care, four get the govenment, state and federal, out of health care.
A person should be able to buy basic health care coverage that would pay for the huge bills, over $5,000. A person should be able in Texas to buy a health plan in say California if it meets their preceived needs and they can afford it. A State should be able to offer its entire popualtion up for bids to all insurance carriers, with the low bid getting the bid for two years.
