James - point taken. Here some things to consider. She put her house up back in August, around the same time she formally announced. She may have sincerely meant to step down, but at the same time, a lot of things could have happen. Sen. Cornyn could have convinced her not to resign. If that did happen, not only would she be forced to explain why she took her house off the market, but she would have been ridiculed, especially by Gov. Perry.

As for keeping her seat and running at the same time, one thing to remember, next year is mid-term elections. With one-third of the Senate is up for re-election and after last night's election results, it is safe to say business will be in a stand still next year. While this could just be a blip, the Republican will be using this as their rally cry.

Why would she sell her house in DC at a loss if she was considering not resigning? And can she really expect to win a tight republic primary for the governorship (and solicit large donations) while holding on to her previous job, 'just in case'?
